MIFA

My sticker for MIFA 2020.

WHAT IS MIFA?

Back in 2018, I had an idea to illustrate all 254 players missing from the Official World Cup Sticker book. I asked the online design community to help out, and over 200 artists, illustrators and designers took part, each one illustrating one or two stickers missing from the book. The project was named MIFA: Missing in (the) Football Album. I collected all of the entries and sold them in a limited edition book, raising around £5,000 for charity. The project was repeated in 2019 for the Women’s World Cup, this time raising about £2500.

During the current COVID-19 pandemic, football has been postponed and one of the many consequences of this is that the charity “Fans Supporting Foodbanks” are suffering. They collect food outside football stadiums on matchdays, with the initiative starting at Anfield and Goodison but now spreading further afield to other football clubs. They estimate that they raise between £5,000 to £10,000 per matchday, so with games currently suspended they have a huge shortfall to make up over the next few months.“

He wasn’t meant to be this spooky but I just kinda decided to go with it.

Deeply sinister.
