Kalvin Phillips
A Square Ball cover of Kalvin Phillips, later given an England variant once the local midfield metronome had become national property.
About the Project
I drew this for The Square Ball, then added an England variant later, once Kalvin Phillips had gone from local midfield metronome to national property.
I wanted it to sit somewhere between portrait and icon — a cover image, but with a bit of canonisation baked in. The red, white and blue version followed naturally enough; subtlety was never the plan.
The print is available here. The full process is walked through here.
Open any figure to inspect surface, print detail, and framing more closely without losing the overall sequence. Motion plates play inline at full page size.
Sequence note
The closing plates are intended to read like a print-room pass: object, surface, and image held in sequence rather than treated as isolated uploads.
Deep zoom appendix
Print-resolution studies
These appendix plates are wired for the Deep Zoom lightbox flow described in the implementation spec: inspection JPEG first, then tiled print-resolution detail once the viewer is ready.
