About the Project
I drew this to mark the arrival of Japanese international Yosuke Ideguchi at The Square Ball in 2017.
Looking back, it's become a document of anticipation more than achievement — a cover for a player whose Leeds career never really got the chance to begin.
It's an early piece, but that's part of what I like about it now: a snapshot of the moment, and of the strange optimism football can summon before reality wanders in.
